No. 5
Can you dig it?
Yeah, I know it’s a little overkill but I am drooling for this item. It takes me back to the days I colleted her erasers, pencils, purses and stickers. Now I collect old cameras and out of date computer equipment. Sanrio Company, Ltd., introduced the Hello Kitty franchise in 1974 and its inaugural item was a vinyl coin purse.
Got it!
In May of 2008 Hello Kitty received the honor of becoming Japan’s tourism ambassador in hopes of welcoming visitors from neighboring Hong Kong and China. There are 22,000 Hello Kitty products to pick from including seasonal favorites and collectables. The company relies primarily on word of mouth to promote its items. I’m going to be honest and tell you that I did buy the 3-mega-pixel Hello Kitty digital camera and I was seriously disappointed with the quality, I should have purchased the toaster. Nonetheless I am still a fan. But I am not quite sure how I feel about an object/character older than me with an oversized head grossing about $1 billion a year. I envy her resume but I’ll probably be using it for toilet paper after my newspaper job sends me packing. Maybe there’s room for a Marina Kitty collectable like Barbie had Skipper Roberts, who was created in 1964 to pose as Barbie’s sister. I’m guessing there’s a grim future for me mainly judged by the vintage hairdo and the character assassination of Skipper in 2003.

Wow, Hello Kitty has been around since 1974?!
I didn't realize how long it's been out!
Keep up the great blogging.
