Maxyne and her holiday portrait. I went with something different and a little less traditional. We did the posed thing but for some reason I just love the movement this photo delivers.

I spent the evening with two lovely ladies last night triggering lights, listening to Shel Silverstein and making frames. You may ask "At which point did the prized animal make it into the frame" and I shall draw a blank. I will defend myself by stating that the dead animal belongs to my roommate. The eyes are rock hard and at some point a tongue was waxing their reflective surface. I'll leave it to Krystle to spice up the boring black backdrop. I attempted to wash out this image in order to mimic many photos I've seen in family photo albums through the decades. 1980's here we come! Color cast and all.

Trying to cheer your friends up by taking their portrait can be challenging.

These are some portraits I made of Sean Cardio at my apartment last night. One of those up all night conversationally stimulating evenings coupled with a little photography can't do me no harm.

Jatin during a brief insane layover in Chicago. One of many friendly visits welcomed, needed and inspiring. Jatin spun around the earth, enlightened his senses and came to my spot straight from India. Shot on expired film with my Nikon F100 outside a gay bar. We were not welcomed so we trash talked for fun under our breath and snapped some portraits not to be forgotten.

The religion columnist for the Courier News Michael J. Murschel and I spent some time updating his head shot in the studio today. We were also awarded a portrait while giggling about how funny it is to have your photograph knowingly made.

One after the other, we play the staring game too. This image belongs to a collection of portraits I created for a multi-culture project funded by an artist grant I was awarded by the Cultural Arts Commission in Elgin, Illinois. The capture was made with my Mamiya on black & white film in the gym of YWCA down the block on Chicago Street.
