I designed this Birth Announcement post card for our baby Valentina! I had fun making the picture weathered and printed it on matte paper for the full effect. I also asked the printer to round the corners of the final 4x6's.

I visited the Ethiopian Diamond restaurant in the Roger's Park neighborhood of Chicago to complete an assignment for a local publication. It was Sunday brunch and the lighting was just perfect, making the atmosphere moody. The room was warm with the smell of finger foods simmering and hints of aroma from the freshly brewed coffee.

Waiting for the Blue Line at Grand in Chicago after realizing that I went three stops too far only to turn and see a woman waiting for the same train sitting in a chair, just an unusual moment. Afterward, I thought I should have moved to the right and recorded her face in the vignette. Somehow I still like the anonymity of the two images.

This here is a clip from the December 2009 issue of Chicago Social magazine. Writer Amalie Drury, a beautiful day and some fox hunting in Wayne, Illinois. No fox were present at the hunt but we did brush paths with hounds, beautiful horses and eloquently dressed riders. I will post some outtakes later this week.

Nails. On display at a salon I was asked to photograph in West Dundee. I have been interested in inanimate objects and when I find something I like, I photograph it. Their form, their shape requires some investigation. As you can see these acrylic nails are manufactured in pre-colored in rainbows of variety.

In light of the recent controversy hovering over Democratic Illinois Governor Milorad "Rod" R. Blagojevich I thought it might be kind of me to share this photograph. I shot it while the political parade was visiting a sporting goods store in downtown Elgin last year.

These images are from an assignment at the Professional Building in downtown Elgin. The elevator pulled me onto the 7th floor where I was required to hold my coughing for the ride home. I saw performances and photographed some time ago the opening of the Cultural Arts Commission space. They feature cramped gallery shows and simultaneous dance exhibitions.

I took a ride in the grain elevator of the Elburn Co-op and stood on a small landing watching the smoke roll by today. The corn was coming in by the truckloads as farmers dropped off their harvest for the season. You could see the farmland unfolding in all directions and it smelled like burnt corn as the air went moist on the ride up.

I'm not sure why I have so many circus assignments lately. This one showed me a totally different side of performance, one met with rules and regulations. I did end up meeting Top Clown Tom Dougherty who was waiting for a class of elementary school children to entertain before the show. It was a no show. He shared some secrets of his environment and told me all in all it was a dark life.

Here is another installment on Greece. It takes place near my father's village in Alonia. The Greek countryside is often quiet. I spent the evening photographing St. Edward's High School soccer in the rain. Okay it wasn’t raining that bad, just a light sprinkling here and there. A majority of the last three years I have focused on prep sports and found that I really enjoy photographing such events.

Jim Peterik of survivor sung the rock ballad "Eye of the Tiger" which served as the theme song for the local soccer club in Kalamata when I was a kid, not to mention the theme song for Rocky III! The National Press Photographers Association finally posted the Region 5 monthly clip contest winners for the month of May. I just got back from shooting a feature on women being active in politics. Unfortunately no one was actively doing anything. So, I waited and eventually found myself in the presence of a five year-old girl learning Spanish.
